Venue of Call to Bar Ceremony Changed Over Security Concerns
Amidst Security Concern in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, the Body of Benchers rising from a meeting has changed the venue of the Call to Bar Ceremony for successful aspirants scheduled to hold tomorrow, 27th of July.
The event which was earlier slated to hold at the premises of the Nigerian Law School in Bwari was shifted due to security concerns following the killing of officers of the Presidential Guard close to the Law School yesterday.
The Secretary of the Body of Benchers, Daniel Tela confirmed to Lawyard that after a meeting this afternoon, the BoB decided to relocate the venue of the ceremony to the Body of Benchers Secretariat, Behind EFCC New Headquarters, Jabi (Plot 688, Institute & Research District FCC, Phase 111, Abuja, FCT).
Tela also restated that the ceremony is exclusively for aspirants, and family members as well as well-wishers remain excluded from participating in it.
Lawyard earlier reported that after terrorists threatened to abduct President Muhammadu Buhari and Governor Nasir el’Rufai of Kaduna in a viral video, the bandits were headed to the Nigerian Law School in Bwari when they ran into the troops of the Guards Brigade, leaving three soldiers wounded.
According to the Management of the Nigerian Law School in an earlier notice made available to Lawyard, parents, guardians, friends of the aspirants and the general public should take note that the ceremony is strictly for the aspirants, hence only the aspirants will be granted access to the venue.
However, there will be live coverage of the event on Channels Television and as well as live streaming on Youtube.
All Aspirants to the Bar are Now expected to be seated by 11:00am.
