Ekweremadu To Remain In Custody As Court Adjourns Trial Till Oct 31
A British court has fixed October 31st for the continuation of pre-trial hearing on the charge of organ harvesting levelled against former deputy senate president Ike Ekweremadu and his wife Beatrice.
This followed the conclusion of the first hearing on Thursday at the Central Criminal Court, Old Bailey, in London.
Ekweremadu and his wife, Beatrice are facing charges bordering on conspiracy to arrange/facilitate the travel of another person with a view to exploitation, namely organ harvesting.
However, a third individual Obinna Obeta, who is a practising medical doctor in London, appeared alongside the duo.
A pre-trial is scheduled for October 31 in which the ex-Deputy Senate President, his wife, and Obeta would appear in court.
Ekweremadu is to remain in custody until then. He joined the proceedings virtually. His wife who was earlier released on bail was in court
